Personal Connection to

My son Keegan is currently in grade 10 at Flex Academy

What excites you most about the vision or potential impact of this campaign?

To me, this campaign involves creating a space where students, educators, and families truly feel they belong. The Education Nexus represents forward thinking with a clear vision for what Christian education can be: flexible, faith filled, and inclusive of all kinds of learners. It’s a chance to build something that works for everyone, meeting people where they’re at and helping them grow in a way that’s meaningful and lasting.

When you're not working or volunteering, how do you enjoy spending your time?

I really love to spend time with my family, whether its travelling or at home. Our oldest daughter goes to University in Ontario, so any chance that we can all be together is awesome. I also spend a lot of time outside hiking and exploring the Okanagan with my 2 dogs, Guinness + Charlie.

What value or principle guides your approach to leadership and service?

Empathy. I believe leadership rooted in love, and genuine care for others has the power to transform lives. I do my best to serve in a way that makes people feel seen, heard, and understood.

Why do you believe Christian education matters in today’s world?

Christian education gives kids something steady to hold onto in a world that is often not. It helps them grow not just in what they know, but in who they are. It has the potential to, shape their character, build their faith, and prepare them to face life with both grace and conviction.

He also currently serves as Board Chair of the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board (FVREB), where he champions high standards, innovation, and industry advancement.

Outside of his professional life, Tore is married to his wife, Tammy, and they have three children. He enjoys golfing and taking family getaways to their place at Christina Lake, where they can relax and enjoy the outdoors together.

Personal Connection to

While my current role doesn’t directly involve HCOS/Flex Academy, I am deeply connected to the values of community development, leadership, and education. I believe in fostering an environment where growth, both professionally and personally, is prioritized. I can see how HCOS/Flex Academy aligns with those values, empowering individuals and families to reach their full potential.

What Excites Me About This Campaign

What excites me most about the vision and potential impact of this campaign is the opportunity to shape the future through education, collaboration, and innovation. Much like the work I do in real estate and within the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board, this campaign presents an opportunity to make a lasting, positive difference in people’s lives by focusing on sustainable growth, leadership, and support for individuals at all stages of their journey.

How do you enjoy spending time when your not working or volunteering?

When I’m not working or volunteering, I love spending time with my wife, Tammy, and our three kids. We enjoy getaways to our place at Christina Lake, where we can unwind and enjoy the beauty of nature. I also have a passion for golfing, which offers me a great way to relax and connect with others in a leisurely setting.

Tammy Jacobsen

Former gymnast on the Canadian National Team, and an acrobat for Cirque du Soleil

As a former gymnast on the Canadian National Team, and an acrobat for Cirque du Soleil, I’ve spent much of my life dedicated to the pursuit of excellence, artistry, and resilience. Years of training and performing taught me the value of perseverance, discipline, and passion – qualities that continue to shape me today.

Now, I bring the same focus and commitment to my most important roles; being a mother to three wonderful children and a proud wife to Tore. Every chapter of my life reflects the belief that with heart and hard work, and trusting in our lord and savior, anything is possible.

Personal Connection to

Our children will be starting at Flex Academy in September 2025. After our middle child was diagnosed with autism last summer, we knew we needed to relocate from the lower mainland to find a calmer environment for her to thrive. When we discovered Flex Academy, we were immediately drawn to its core values and welcoming community. It felt like the right place – not just for her, but for our entire family.

What Excites Me About This Campaign

What excites me the most about this campaign is the opportunity to invest in something eternal – shaping young hearts and minds in a Christ-centered environment. This school isn’t just about academic excellence; it’s about raising up generations grounded in truth, character, and purpose. We are equipping students not only with knowledge, but with the wisdom and faith to lead, serve, and influence the world for God’s glory. I truly believe the impact of this campaign will echo far beyond the classroom – it will transform families, communities, and futures.

How do you enjoy spending time when your not working or volunteering?

When I’m not volunteering, I cherish the time I get to spend as a stay-at-home mom to our three children, and two dogs. Our days are often filled with sports or activities, but also with creativity and connection, whether it’s through crafting projects at home, or enjoying the simple pleasures of playing with our two dogs, Olly and Cooper. I find joy in making things with my hands – whether it’s sewing, painting, creating with clay, or DIY home décor. Crafting helps me to unwind while also expressing myself.

Time at Christina Lake is equally special, offering a peaceful escape and a chance to make lasting memories with my family.

His work has taken him from corporate boardrooms to international development settings, reinforcing his belief that clarity, strategy, and alignment are at the heart of every thriving organization.

Personal Connection to

I am honored to serve as an Ambassador for the Learning Without Limits Capital Campaign because of my long-standing connection to Flex Academy (formerly Heritage Christian School). I’m a former student, the spouse of Mrs. Shawnella Byron (who has spent 17 years within the school environment), a PAC participant, and proudly a parent of two current students—one of whom is just finishing her first year of hybrid learning.

What Excites Me About This Campaign

What excites me most about the vision of this campaign is the incredible educational model HCOS/Flex Academy is pursuing. The individualized learning plans tailored to each student’s learning habits, styles, and personality are nothing short of transformative. Experiencing hybrid learning firsthand this year has been an honour. Our daughter takes a “Flex Day” every Thursday, where she can choose to work from home or school. We’ve used that day as an opportunity to build our relationship, foster independent learning habits that will serve her in any career path, and explore interests together—whether it’s fishing, gardening, or graphic design. I can genuinely support the Learning Without Limits campaign because I’ve seen the tangible impact it’s having on my own family. Looking ahead, we’re planning international experiences with our children and are deeply grateful that our girls can take their schoolwork with them—without falling behind or needing to adjust to a different curriculum. This flexibility opens a whole new world of learning and will, we hope, instill a global citizen perspective in our children as they experience life beyond the classroom. The Nexus for Innovation represents a bold step toward a more holistic, individualized learning experience—one that I believe will better equip students to thrive in today’s world of change.
